Who are Job Search Trainers and what do they do?
Job Search Trainers are part of our Careers Team at Lambda and work with you directly on your job search. Job Search Trainers have experience reaching out to thousands of companies hiring junior developers and they’ll share their expertise with you one-on-one to create a job search strategy for your personal situation. They can help you:
- Build a job search plan to find jobs that would be a good fit for you
- Provide quick answers to questions related to job search
- Establish goals so you can stay on track
- Refer you to specific Career Coaching sessions that fit your needs
- Help you stay motivated and engaged during the job search
What’s the difference between a Career Coach and Job Search Trainer?
Career Coaches help all students create application materials, develop a networking plan, practice for interviews, negotiate salaries, succeed on the job, and more. They host workshops and are available for you to reach out to throughout your entire time at Lambda.
Job Search Trainers work with you one-on-one, specifically for your job search. Trainers also have worked directly with recruiters and Lambda’s hiring partners, so they are experts in finding jobs that are the right fit for you. They will help you make a job search plan and stay on track.
Do all Lambda School graduates have access to Job Search Trainers?
Yes, all endorsed grads. Please contact /frontdesk if you have not been connected with a Job Search Trainer and are endorsed.
How often will I hear from my Job Search Trainer?
You will typically interact with your Job Search Trainer each week through either Slack or email, but as your job search progresses this may change. During your first meeting, you and your Trainer will work together to establish a meetup plan.
What are the expectations for me when working with a Job Search Trainer?
To work effectively with your Job Search Trainer, you will be asked to report your progress on a weekly basis. Your progress reports give your Job Search Trainer the insights to help you make adjustments to your personal job search plans as needed. Additionally, we ask that you notify Lambda School if you choose to pause or discontinue your job search at any time or no longer wish to participate in the Program.
How are Job Search Trainers related to endorsement and Match eligibility?
You don’t need to be endorsed to start working with a Job Search Trainer. However, in order to be best prepared for your upcoming behavioral and technical interviews, your Job Search Trainer will connect you with the resources you need to become endorsed. Once you are endorsed, Lambda can reach out directly to our hiring partners on your behalf, and we’ll use our connections to fast-track you straight to interviews.
